Ocean Energy Power Generation

The velocity energy of water stream or ocean current is converted to pressure energy, and pressurized water is then used to drive high-head waterwheels that achieve stable electric power generation.  Large bulk of seawater is pumped up, and pumped-up seawater is utilized for desalination, hydrogen generation, rare earth element collection, cultivated fisheries, etc.

  1. Kinetic energy of water is utilized to pump up water into reservoir.  This pump-driven and pressurized water, regulated with pressure control valve, is then used to drive waterwheel for electric power generation, which is the technology first in the world.  This technology requires no external electric power to pump up water mass, and enables power generation without requiring drop height.  Electric power thus generated is essentially clean and suitable for charging of electric vehicles and electric propulsion ships.
  2. Full utilization of kinetic energy of water enables power generation unaffected by weather, and is economically advantageous over wind- or solar-powered electricity generation in terms of operation cost.
  3. Ocean energy power generation system also renders various activities feasible, such as desalination of seawater, collection of mineral resources in ocean (e.g. lithium), hydrogen gas generation, land cultivation of fishes, food production by plant factory, through utilization of pumped-up water.
  4. The ocean energy power generation system employs waterwheels installed underwater to drive high-pressure pumps.  Because of such design configuration, the system is also advantageous in terms of landscape preservation.  The power generator per se can be located on the land, and maintenance and control is therefore rendered easy.
